You can learn about FASD and share information with others through our "Grab and Go" feature. Here you'll find camera-ready documents that you can download for reference or copy and distribute at PTA meetings, health fairs, doctors' offices, and other settings. All documents are in the public domain and can be adapted as needed, such as adding your organization's phone number.
The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Center for Excellence is a project of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The Center has six congressional mandates:
The Center's mandates are:
Study innovative clinical interventions and service delivery improvement strategies.
Identify communities with exemplary comprehensive systems of care. Provide technical assistance to communities without comprehensive systems of care. Provide training to individuals in various service systems dealing with persons and families affected by FASD. Develop innovative techniques to prevent alcohol use by women in childbearing years. Perform other functions, to the extent authorized by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, after consideration of recommendations made by the National Task Force on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
To meet these mandates, the FASD Center engages in various activities and works with a Steering Committee, as well as other Federal agencies and private organizations. Visit our site often to learn about Center activities and updates.
