2006-11-30 Topics: Of Interest To Everyone | Spirituality
By John Newport, PhD
Read an inspirational message that deals with the need to heed nature's call to slow down and seek renewal, as winter approaches. To the extent that we are able to align ourselves with the natural rhythm of the season, we can embrace the coming holidays with joy and gratitude, rather than succumbing to the "holiday crazies" that are right around the corner.

By John Newport, PhD
The act of forgiveness is truly a cleansing process that resonates throughout our entire being. Through forgiveness, we are able to release our resentment toward others and thereby lighten our load. Following the path of forgiveness also enables us to release ourselves from the burden of excessive guilt stemming from our own misdeeds that have either intentionally or unintentionally inflicted harm on those around us.

2006-05-15 Topics: Spirituality | Treatment | Treatment Populations
By Wellbriety Magazine
"I talked to some Elders about four months ago," he said, "and they were explaining to me how things work in the spiritual world. They said that when you declare war on something, each of those words gives an instruction. When you declare war on something, spiritually you actually call the enemy. When somebody pushes on your hand, it pushes back. The very thing you declare war on, you are destined to lose."

Who are the Elders ?
2006-04-25 Topics: Spirituality | Treatment Populations
By Daniel Crowfeather
Each of us has a best possible path to walk, and each of us is here for some specific purpose. For most of us, our walk is all about learning. While we may not see this as significant, the Creator does not make mistakes: each life interacts with many others, so each one is as important as any other. Ignoring our path and trying to do something more spectacular simply wastes a lifetime, and possibly endangers ourselves and others.

Here is Gerald May's brilliant and now classic exploration of the psychology and physiology of addiction. It offers an inspiring and hope-filled vision for those who desire to explore the mystery of who and what they really are. May examines the "processes of attachment" that lead to addiction and describes the relationship between addiction and spiritual awareness. He also details the various addictions from which we can suffer, not only to substances like alcohol and drugs, but to work, sex, performance, responsibility, and intimacy.
