As an accreditation consultant and a surveyor for a national accreditation organization, people often ask me why I think that it's important for agencies to become accredited.
This is a short, easy to read description of HIPAA and its applications. A great starting place for those who would like to understand more about this regulation.
In an ongoing effort to keep current with the field and support best practices, CARF reviews and makes changes to selected areas of their standards on an annual basis. Organizations currently accredited are expected to keep up with these changes and institute new policies, procedures and practices as appropriate. What follows is an overview of the changes for the upcoming standards year: July 2006-June 2007.
The change initiatives have been agreed-upon. The reasoning behind each initiative is clear and compelling. Well-crafted communications have been printed. Tightly choreographed kick-off meetings held. And still, change does not happen as expected. Turf battles rage. Heels dig in. Team breakdowns slow the pace of key initiatives. Deadlines are missed and results suffer. Does this sound familiar?
